Customer service standards for the county libraries

We want to make you welcome in our libraries.
We will:
• wear badges, which will show that we work in the library, and state the position we hold
• always greet you, acknowledge those waiting for our attention, and try to avoid long queues
• deal with the person in front of us before answering the telephone
• publicise our opening hours and give at least six weeks' notice of any planned changes to them
• display clear signs and a plan of the library
• try to make the library accessible to all, providing hearing loops and a range of large-print books as well as books on CD
• aim to provide a wide choice of books and other material, which we will keep in good condition
• offer free and unlimited access to the internet, and aim to give help and guidance on how to use it
• provide an environment that is pleasant and encourages learning
• try to provide a peaceful area for studying
• supply suggestions forms in all our libraries so that you can let us know whether you think our service is good or bad
• ensure that any complaint you make is dealt with within 28 days
